Six million euros for Oxford Immune Algorithmics
The start-up is dedicated to remote diagnostics and is in the current class of the Leipzig Spinlab. Now it was able to win international investors for a current financing round and collect six million euros.
Currently Oxford Immune Algorithmics belongs to a class of the incubator Spinlab from Leipzig, now it collects six million euros in a financing round. Leading the round is Medtech AI, a Toronto-based investor focused on startups in energy, finance and medical devices. Also joining is existing investor SFC Capital. The London-based venture capitalist already invested in Oxford Immune Algorithmics last year.
The London-based start-up is a spin-off of Oxford University and has developed a product that enables the monitoring of the immune system through blood tests. To do this, an artificial intelligence evaluates the results. The fledgling company collects the data in a cloud, and an algorithm classifies the results. The money from the current round will primarily be put into expanding the team from 20 to 30 employees, as well as into further product development and research.
"In a world devastated by the recent pandemic, the need for remote monitoring systems for immune defenses is more obvious. OIA's team has the credentials, industry experience and capabilities to drive this transformation," said Rohallah Ghasemi of SFC Capital.
The funding round also brings personnel reinforcements: the new CEO will be Pamela Winsor, who made her name as CMO of Medtronic, a medical technology company based in Canada. "The future of healthcare is here and we look forward to working with the outstanding team at OIA," says Winso
