Submission: Deferral of social security contributions

Many thanks for the hint and the template to Godelef Kühl from EO Germany.

In the course of combating the economic consequences of the Corona crisis, affected companies are allowed to apply for a deferral of social security contributions. Please note the formal requirements regarding the submission deadline. The application for March and April must be submitted by March 26 at the latest (incl.).

The application should be sent to the health insurance companies of the employees. It is usually sent by fax, some health insurance companies also allow e-mail.

Here is a template for the application:

Dear Sir or Madam,

Our company is registered with your health insurance fund under the company number _______.

Due to the economic upheaval caused by the corona crisis, we are suffering from a considerable loss of income and are unfortunately unable to pay social security contributions on time.

We are therefore requesting the deferral and suspension of enforcement of the contributions in accordance with Section 76 SGB IV for March and April 2020 until further notice. Please do not make any direct debits that are due (termination of the SEPA mandate). I would also ask you to refrain from charging interest and late payment surcharges, as provided for by the Federal Government.
