Berlin-based FinTech company SaveStrike has launched its innovative savings app for iOS and Android following a successful seven-figure financing round. The app, which works on the principle of "save now, buy later", aims to make saving more attractive to young people by promoting conscious consumption based on quality rather than quantity. With over 120 partner stores, the app enables the universal saving of products from various online stores and offers flexible cashback options. Unlike platforms like Klarna, which encourage excessive consumer debt, SaveStrike works against overconsumption and promotes financially responsible behavior.

With SaveStrike, we enable our users to make the right individual purchasing decisions in order to be satisfied and financially free in the long term

Jan Wedemeyer, Co-Founder SaveStrike

The founders of SaveStrike see the app not just as a shopping platform, but as a movement that encourages young people to take a more responsible and sustainable approach to their consumption. The app not only offers the opportunity to better manage personal budgets, but also financial education tools and resources to promote a healthy financial mindset. The aim is to make saving attractive again and at the same time focus on quality and sustainability.

Polycare presents sustainable masonry system for circular construction

Andreas Kunsmann from Polycare

Polycare presents the SEMBLA® masonry system on the German market, which represents a pioneering solution for sustainable construction. By combining material and product innovations, the system paves the way for a functioning circular economy in the construction industry. The circular design of the system extends from raw materials through production to dismantling, and thanks to its connecting elements, the masonry can be directly reused after dismantling. The modular system is based on a 12.5-centimetre masonry grid, enables individual planning and is accompanied by energy-efficient properties. Hollow chambers in the masonry can be filled with various insulating materials, while the low-CO2 geopolymer concrete reduces CO2 emissions by up to 70 percent compared to conventional concrete. The SEMBLA® masonry system is versatile and opens up a sustainable and future-proof construction method. The first customer project in Düsseldorf will be realized in early 2024, accompanied by the establishment of a production plant in North Rhine-Westphalia for the extensive manufacture of the product in Germany.

Mansio and Pem Motion with truck-trailer locking system

The Aachen-based start-up MANSIO and the development service provider PEM Motion have developed a smart truck-trailer locking system that prevents unintentional or criminal coupling. The permanently installed, keyless IoT module can be integrated into the telematics software or controlled via an app. The "Smart Lock" prototype will be presented for the first time at the NUFAM commercial vehicle trade fair. The system helps to protect semi-trailers against theft and is suitable for a wide range of applications, from trailer leasing to fleet management. The secure app control enables easy locking and unlocking, while the developers have also taken security and cyber security aspects into account.

Founder Jules Goldberg unveils sleep technology in the SnoreLab and Sleepwave apps

Jules Goldberg, founder of SnoreLab and Sleepwave, started using sonar technology to analyze sleep in 2019. His research led to the patent-pending motion detection technology that forms the basis of his Sleepwave app. Inspired by dolphins and their sonar, the app detects sleepers' movements and breathing through the phone's speaker and microphone using a technology called silent sonar. In this video, the Cambridge graduate explains his motivation for developing these apps.
