Advocado sells business operations

Legaltech filed for insolvency proceedings at the end of June. The future of the business now seems secure.

Legaltech Advocado has had a turbulent few months. At the end of June, the start-up filed for insolvency proceedings in Stralsund. However, the company was able to maintain its business operations during this time. It has now sold it to Legal Tech Lab 22 GmbH, a technology company from the Gansel Group.

Advocado developed an online platform to bring together people seeking legal advice and lawyers. Consumers can describe their concerns there and should then receive a call back from a lawyer within two hours on weekdays for a free initial assessment. The start-up uses special software to support case processing. Together with the Gansel Group, it now wants to become a "360-degree service provider" for lawyers, offering everything from law firm software to a comprehensive network of appointment representatives. Consumers will soon also be able to find out about legal costs financing and legal protection.

"This merger represents a unique opportunity. As a strategic partner, we want to support Advocado in developing new services for the legal market so that we can implement innovative ideas even faster," says Kaja Keller, Managing Director of Legal Tech Lab 22 GmbH, which will manage the Advocado brand in future.

The 35 employees will be retained, as will both locations in Greifswald and Berlin. "I am delighted that the Gansel Group has recognized the quality and growth potential of Advocado and has placed its trust in the team," says the previous CEO Andreas Schröteler, who will continue to be part of Advocado's management team alongside Keller.
