Battery recycling start-up LiBCycle receives strategic partner

The logistics company InTime Express Logistik is investing in the Munich-based start-up. Together they want to recycle old car batteries.
The Munich-based start-up duo LiBCycle has gained a strategic investor. InTim Express Logistik from Isernhagen has acquired a majority stake in the company. There is no further information on the exact amount of the investment or the shares acquired. "We were impressed by the young people's concept," explains Gerd Röttger, Managing Director of InTime. "Their idea fits in very well with our experience in agile logistics for the automotive industry. This is because we can work together to expand our offering to customers, particularly in the area of dangerous goods transportation."
The two founders Philipp Brunotte and Áron Németh have developed a transport box for old electric car batteries. Old lithium-ion batteries have to be transported as hazardous goods due to the chemical reactions and construction of the battery. The Munich-based company also wants to develop a platform on which old batteries can be localized so that transport can be organized automatically. "In future, industrial users will no longer have to worry about transportation, but can concentrate on their core business. This includes further developing innovative battery technologies and therefore their vehicles," says co-founder Brunotte. "From providing the transport box and logistics to automatically determining the destination, we want to offer everything from a single source."
