The logistics start-up raises 16 million euros and plans to use the money for further expansion.
The Austrian start-up Byrd has raised 16 million euros in its Series B financing round and intends to use the money for expansion. The logistics start-up wants to enter five new markets and expand its existing offices in Germany, France, the UK and Austria. The Byrd team is set to double to 200 employees by the end of the year. The start-up has 15 warehouses across Europe.
Byrd offers online stores the option of outsourcing their entire logistics. The start-up offers cloud-based software for this purpose. Byrd handles storage, order processing, shipping and returns. Its customers include Scholl and Durex.
"Byrd's comprehensive range of services, its focus on sustainability and the strong brands in its portfolio set the company apart from its competitors," says Manuel Silva Martínez, General Partner at London-based Mouro Capital, which is leading the financing round. The existing investors, Speedinvest from Vienna, Verve Ventures from Zurich, Rider Global from Cyprus and the Greek VC VentureFriends also participated in the round. Byrd was spun out of an incubator at the Vienna University of Technology in 2016.
