Coinbase receives license from Bafin

The US company is now officially authorized to trade cryptocurrencies in Germany.
Crypto custody has only been subject to authorization in Germany since last year. Now the German financial supervisory authority Bafin has granted the US trading platform Coinbase a license for the trading and custody of cryptocurrencies. "This is an important step that enables us to expand our product range and grow our German business," says Coinbase Managing Director for Germany Marcus Hughes.
The shares of the US parent company reacted to the license with an increase of ten percent. Founded in 2012, Coinbase has only been listed on the US stock exchange since April of this year. CEO Brian Armstrong announced a few days ago that Coinbase wanted to build an app store for its customers and give more people access to cryptocurrency trading. The company is particularly focusing on expansion in Europe, Armstrong writes in a blog post.
