Unicorn employees can now take months of vacation

Founder Waldemar Zeiler is leading the way: From July 1, he will be taking a six-month sabbatical.
The Berlin start-up Einhorn is now giving its employees the chance to take paid time off. For every year of service with the company, there will be one month off. How the months are divided up is up to the employees. Employees can take six months off or just one. The condition is that no other financial income is earned during this time out. The so-called "sabbatical" is intended to allow employees to focus on various topics. "For example, for self-discovery, to gain clarity regarding their own vision, but also their own role at Einhorn," the company writes in a blog post. The break is also intended to help you recover and prevent burnout.
Einhorn founder Waldemar Zeiler is leading the way. He is taking a break from July 1 to December 31, 2022. On Instagram the founder publishes a note of absence. "I have been absent too often in recent months and perhaps even years, even though I certainly seemed quite present and capable from the outside," writes Zeiler. He wants to take time out to be really present again.
During the time out, employees will continue to receive their full salary. "We firmly believe that a well-used sabbatical does not incur any costs," says the start-up. Instead, Einhorn would benefit from better focus and clarity for the individual. "It is an investment that is worthwhile for each individual unicorn, but also for Einhorn as a company."
