Exclusive: Acton Capital expands its team

With Sophie Ahrens-Gruber and Hannes Blum, two experienced managers are joining the Munich-based venture capitalist.
As of July 1, Sophie Ahrens-Gruber and Hannes Blum will join Munich-based venture capitalist Acton Capital. Gruber will become part of the investment team in the Bavarian capital. Hannes Blum becomes a partner and will be responsible for all investments in the USA and Canada.
Previously a Limited Partner, Gruber was already a long-standing investor in the Acton Capital funds. Most recently, as Head of Corporate Business Development, she was responsible for business development at Burda Media Holding. She was also Head of Corporate Responsibility. "Our start-ups can now benefit directly from Sophie's experience in the areas of leadership, corporate management and digital transformation in a wide range of industries," says Christoph Braun, Managing Partner at Acton Capital, about the new appointment.
Hannes Blum has been part of the Acton Capital team since 2015. Before joining the venture capital firm, he was Vice President at Amazon. As co-founder of JustBooks, a platform for price comparison of used books, he founded one of the first companies in the Acton portfolio, which he merged with the Canadian online marketplace for books "AbeBooks" and sold to Amazon in 2008.
