Sharing provider Twist Mobility has only been testing its concept for a year, and now the start-up is being acquired by Greenmobility. For the Danes, the takeover marks their entry into the German market.

Car sharing is mainly found in large cities. The start-up Twist Mobility wants to change this. It is initially launching a pilot project near Ulm, where almost 500 electric cars or scooters have been rented since the beginning of 2020. Greenmobility has now stepped in and bought the start-up. The car-sharing company is thus entering the German market.

The founders of Twist are the energy provider EnBW from Baden-Württemberg and the company builder Bridgemaker. The start-up offers local authorities a fleet and infrastructure for the rental of electric vehicles. Enbw will remain the exclusive sales partner even after the purchase. Bridgemaker Managing Director Henrike Luszick is delighted with the acquisition: "We are happy that Twist Mobility's attractive and sustainable business model is being supported by these major players and will be scaled by GreenMobility in the future; this proves Bridgemaker's business model."

Greenmobility has been focusing on the zero-emission concept since 2016, and with the acquisition of Twist Mobility, the company is expanding its concept: "We are proud to be able to improve electric mobility in rural areas from now on," says Managing Director Thomas Heltborg Juul.
