The strategic decision is intended to drive the further development of the holistic digital solution offering and support metergrid in the scaling phase. A first round of investment is planned.

Stuttgart - Johannes Mewes, former CPO of Freenow (formerly MyTaxi), will join the company as an investor and Managing Director. Together with co-founder Julian Schulz, he will lead the company and focus on the further development of a holistic digital solution offering for tenant electricity.

Johannes Mewes brings valuable experience and expertise to the company. His knowledge in company formation, product development and building strategic partnerships will help to drive innovative tenant electricity solutions and support metergrid in the upcoming scaling phase.

We are confident that we will be able to fully exploit our growth potential with the planned tenfold increase in the number of residential units supplied. In addition, we are open to an investment to accelerate our expansion plans.

Julian Schulz, Co-Founder & CEO metergrid

Despite its comparatively short time on the market, metergrid expects annual sales in the seven-digit range for 2023. By the end of the year, the company is expected to supply around 25,000 tenants with green tenant electricity. This growth reflects the strong demand and metergrid's holistic approach. The start-up also has ambitious plans and is aiming to increase the number of residential units supplied with electricity in multi-party buildings tenfold by the end of 2025.

First round of investment in the coming months

To achieve these ambitious goals, metergrid is planning a first round of investment in the coming months. The future investment is intended to make the metergrid product accessible to around 4 million landlords and 40 million tenants of apartment buildings in Germany. The company wants to simplify the energy supply of apartment buildings and make tenant electricity affordable for everyone. The additional investment will also be used to further develop technological innovations and expand metergrid's reach.

Since its foundation in 2020, metergrid has been developing a tenant electricity solution and establishing itself as a partner for the housing and real estate industry. The company offers a SaaS solution that enables private landlords and small and medium-sized real estate companies to implement profitable tenant electricity projects. In addition to the billing software, metergrid offers comprehensive solutions in the areas of technology and project implementation. Thanks to a strong partner network, metergrid has succeeded in making tenant electricity scalable throughout Germany.
