The VC from Amsterdam will start in Berlin in July. 66 million euros have been earmarked primarily for German start-ups.

The Dutch VC Peak will move into an office in Berlin from July. The early-stage investor also wants to monitor the German market from the capital. Peak has been primarily active in the Benelux countries for 14 years and has previously managed its funds from Amsterdam. "We deliberately chose Berlin over Paris or London," says Johan van Mil, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Peak.

"It is clear to us that Germany must be the next step if we want to continue to grow in Europe - this is where the European economic engine is located and there is enormous innovative strength." The first German start-up in which Peak invested was Graph CMS. Peak led the financing round of two and a half million euros from May 2020.

Peak does not invest in specific sectors, but in marketplace, platform and SaaS models. The Dutch company is financed exclusively by founders who give their money. None of the 34 investments have failed so far, says Peak. Successful investments include OneFit, which merged with Urban Sports Club, and United Wardrobe, which was bought by the second-hand fashion platform Vinted.

Peak has already launched its fourth fund. 66 million euros are available and are to be invested primarily in German start-ups. Peak's initial investments usually amount to between 250,000 and four million euros. A large part of the fund is reserved for follow-up rounds to accompany the respective start-ups until at least Series B
