Sono Motors and Bosch enter into partnership

In future, the two companies will work together on the maintenance and repair of Sono Motors' solar electric car. Initially there will be 50 service stations in Germany, with many more to follow throughout Europe.

Sono Motors and the long-established company Bosch have announced a long-term Europe-wide partnership. They are cooperating on a joint workshop network. In the initial phase, 50 Bosch Car Services in Germany will be trained to repair and maintain the Sion, Sono Motors' solar electric car, in the future. Other European countries and service centers will then follow. However, the companies did not present an exact timetable.

Sono Motors was founded in Munich in 2016. The Sion brand solar cars are not yet in series production. The launch is planned for 2023, but has already been postponed several times. According to the start-up, there are already more than 20,000 prepaid reservations for the Sion.

For future owners of the car, there is now clarity about the options for repair and maintenance. Sono Motors itself trains workshop staff in the areas of high-voltage, photovoltaics and safety. A Sono Motors technical field service is also planned. Thomas Winter, Vice President Workshop Concepts at Robert Bosch, also sees the collaboration as an opportunity for his own company: "This further strengthens Bosch Car Service's expertise in the field of e-vehicles and helps to attract and retain new customer groups."
