Tanso receives €6.5 million in funding to decarbonize European industry
The Munich-based software company Tanso has closed a €6.5 million seed financing round. The financing round is led by Cologne-based investor Capnamic, while existing investors such as UVC Partners are expanding their investment.
Tanso offers carbon accounting software for the European industry, which is under pressure to decarbonize its supply chains. The ISO-compliant Climate Intelligence software enables the calculation, management and reduction of CO₂ emissions at company and product level. In March 2023, the company received €2.5 million in innovation funding under the European Union's prestigious EIC Accelerator program.

With the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), the European Union is expanding the group of companies required to calculate and publish their carbon footprint. From 2025, companies with an annual turnover of more than €40m, a balance sheet total of €20m or more than 250 employees must disclose their carbon footprint. The carbon footprint is becoming increasingly important and is establishing itself as an important criterion for awarding contracts to companies. However, manufacturing companies find it difficult to measure and reduce emissions, which is a major challenge for SMEs in particular.
Medium-sized companies in particular, with few resources in sustainability, benefit from the Climate Intelligence Suite.

The founding team of Tanso has developed a Climate Intelligence Suite that helps industrial companies to manage their decarbonization based on data and reduce emissions across departments. The company has expanded its offering following €1.6 million in pre-seed funding in October 2021. It now offers "Product Carbon Footprint" calculations for the 3500+ members of the German Engineering Federation (VDMA) to support the effective decarbonization of supply chains
