Wingcopter has two new cooperation partners
The drone start-up gains a sales partner for Japan. The Zeitfracht Group also wants to buy up to 132 drones.
The drone start-up Wingcopter has announced two new partnerships. The company, which is based in Weiterstadt near Darmstadt, announced that it will be cooperating with both the Japanese retail group Itochu and the German Zeitfracht Group with immediate effect.
Japan is one of the most important future markets for drone deliveries, according to the company in view of the Itochu deal. The Japanese company will now be the official sales and leasing partner for the German company's drone. Itochu is also making a strategic investment in Wingcopter, although the amount has not been disclosed.
Meanwhile, the Zeitfracht Group is buying 17 transport drones and securing options for 115 more by 2023. The company from Kleinmachnow near Berlin plans to use the Wingcopter drones to deliver spare parts to offshore wind farms, among other things. Zeitfracht plans to use the company's own Rostock-Laage airport as a departure point, where Wingcopter will also adapt the drones to the customer's requirements. To this end, the Hesse-based company is once again working with German Airways. The charter airline is part of the Zeitfracht Group and has the necessary permits to operate the drones.
