The company from Schleswig-Holstein develops displays for VR and AR glasses. The founders now want to use the money to hire more staff.

The deep-tech start-up OQMented, based in Itzehoe in Schleswig-Holstein, has successfully completed its seed funding round. As the company announced, venture capitalist Vsquared, investor Helmut Jeggle and an undisclosed Chinese partner have invested several million euros in the company. OQMented is not disclosing the exact amount of the funding.

The company develops displays for augmented reality and virtual reality glasses. Ulrich Hofmann and Thomas von Wantoch are behind the start-up. Hofmann previously worked at the Fraunhofer Institute for Silicon Technology for over 20 years, and von Wantoch also worked at the Itzehoe-based research institute before founding the company.

"We invested in OQmented because their unique technology is the key to breakthroughs in various industries, such as AR glasses or a wider use of 3D cameras," says Benedikt von Schoeler, Founding Partner at Vsquared. With the money raised, the company, which was founded in 2018, now wants to hire more engineers.
