Benjamin Ferreau becomes new CEO at Kurts Toolbox

The do-it-yourself start-up gains the e-commerce expert as its new Managing Director.

Kurts Toolbox, a start-up for tool rental, has a new Managing Director in Benjamin Ferreau. Ferreau was previously head of Akanoo, a company specializing in predictive analytics. He brings years of experience in the field of AI-based digitalization of e-commerce. Ferreau now wants to drive forward the location offensive at Kurts Toolbox and attract new investors. To this end, he is also planning to cooperate with DIY stores. His first coup is a collaboration with Obi.

Since the founding of Kurts Toolbox in 2018, the app has promised uncomplicated tool rental. The app can be used to reserve tools and collect them from an automated rental station. This is already possible in the cities of Hamburg, Cologne, Stade and Einbeck. The target group for the service is DIY enthusiasts who want to use tools flexibly without having to pay the often high purchase price. Using a cordless screwdriver for three hours, for example, costs 6.50 euros. Customers would not only save costs, but also make a sustainable decision. "The most sustainable tool is the one that doesn't have to be remanufactured," says Ferreau.
