The do-it-yourself start-up gains the e-commerce expert as its new CEO.

Kurts Toolbox, start-up for tool rental, gets a new CEO with Benjamin Ferreau. Previously, Ferreau was chief executive of Akanoo, a company specializing in predictive analytics. He brings years of experience in AI-based digitization of e-commerce. At Kurts Toolbox, Ferreau now wants to drive the location offensive and attract new investors. To this end, he also plans to cooperate with DIY stores. His first coup is a collaboration with Obi.

Since the founding of Kurt's Toolbox in 2018, the app has promised uncomplicated tool rental. With the help of the app, tools can be reserved and picked up at an automated rental station. This is already possible in the cities of Hamburg, Cologne, Stade and Einbeck. The target group for the service is DIY enthusiasts who want to use tools flexibly without having to pay the often high purchase price. The three-hour use of a cordless screwdriver, for example, costs 6.50 euros. Customers would thus not only save costs, but also make a sustainable decision. "The most sustainable tool is precisely the one that does not have to be manufactured again," says Ferreau.
