Bosch launches venture capital fund

Robert Bosch GmbH aims to invest growth capital in six to ten companies from the technology sector each year. The newly created fund is worth 250 million euros.
Robert Bosch Venture Capital, the Bosch Group's venture capital company, has launched a new fund worth 250 million euros. The company intends to use the fund to invest primarily in technology start-ups worldwide that develop products for energy efficiency and the electrification of drive systems. Bosch is investing up to 25 million euros per start-up. The company also supports the founders with expertise and its network. In return, Bosch benefits from early access to the technologies.
By investing in start-ups, Bosch also aims to find solutions to problems arising from the coronavirus pandemic and the war in Ukraine. "After two years of the coronavirus pandemic and ongoing geopolitical tensions, the effects of chip shortages and disruptions in global value chains are omnipresent," says Ingo Ramesohl, Managing Director of Robert Bosch Venture Capital. "That's why we also want to identify technology trends in these fields that can provide relief in such situations."
This is already the Bosch subsidiary's fifth fund. According to the venture capitalist, it screens more than 2,000 start-ups every year and invests in six to ten of them. The portfolio now includes more than 50 companies from the fields of artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, semiconductors and quantum computing, including, for example, the medical technology company Variantyx and the power electronics manufacturer Semiconductor. Robert Bosch Venture Capital has offices in China, Germany, Israel and the USA.
