Camper rental company Roadsurfer raises latest round to 28.5 million euros

The additional 4.5 million euros come from Tier founder Lawrence Leuschner, among others. The Munich-based start-up is already in the black.
Roadsurfer, a rental company for camper vans, has increased its latest financing round once again. The Munich-based company received 24 million euros back in March. The round was led by HV Capital and Heartcore Capital, a Copenhagen-based VC. Business angels are now injecting a further four and a half million euros, including Lawrence Leuschner, the founder of scooter rental company Tier, and the founders of Flaschenpost and Trivago, reports Founders Scene.
Roadsurfer rents out 2,500 campers in eight European countries. The rental company was founded in 2016. The start-up now employs 500 people. Roadsurfer also sells used vehicles, both via its own website and via used car portals. The latest source of income is the brokerage of unusual camping locations, such as farms or wineries, for which Raodsurfer receives a flat rate. Co-founder Markus Dickhardt is aiming for sales in the double-digit million range this year. Roadsurfer was already profitable before the coronavirus pandemic.
