Celonis makes an acquisition

The German company Decacorn acquires Lenses.io, a provider of data streaming. Rumors of an IPO persist.
The German start-up Celonis is buying the Lenses.io platform for an initially unknown amount. The company, which is already worth more than ten billion US dollars, wants to offer its business customers the opportunity to analyze data in real time and make decisions in the future, explains co-CEO Alexander Rinke to the news agency Reuters. One example: if the weather changes, this can be priced in.
The German Decacorn - as start-ups worth more than ten billion US dollars or euros are called - is thus taking the next step towards an IPO. There has been speculation about this for some time, precisely because the start-up is growing so quickly and investors want to see a return on their large investments in the long term. The data start-up recently raised around one billion euros in a financing round , making it the first German decacorn. In 2020, the company had a turnover of around 100 million US dollars, but since then it has remained silent when it comes to figures.
In an interview with Reuters, the Celonis CEO initially left open the question of whether an IPO will take place soon. Rinke told the news agency: "We have a long-term vision for the company and are concentrating on developing the company in the long term. Of course there are special capital measures. But that's not why we're building the company."
