Celonis makes an acquisition

Germany's Decacorn acquires Lenses.io, a data streaming provider. Rumors of an IPO remain.

The German start-up Celonis is buying the platform Lenses.io for an initially unknown amount. With this, the company, which is already worth more than ten billion US dollars, wants to offer its business customers the ability to analyze data in real time and make decisions in the future, explains co-chief executive Alexander Rinke to the news agency Reuters. One example: if the weather changes, it could be priced in.

The German Decacorn - as start-ups worth more than ten billion US dollars or euros are called - is thus taking the next step towards going public. There has been speculation about this for some time, precisely because the start-up is growing so fast and investors want to see a return on their large investments in the long term. Most recently, the data start-up raised around one billion euros in a financing round , making it Germany's first decacorn. In 2020, the company turned over around $100 million, since then they have been silent when it comes to numbers.

In an interview with Reuters, the Celonis boss initially left open whether an IPO would now happen soon. Rinke told the news agency, "We have a long-term vision for the company and are focused on developing the company for the long term. Of course, there are special corporate actions. But that's not why we're building the company."
