Cleverly receives three million euros

Cleverly's online tutoring service has only been available since this summer, but the Berlin-based company has already completed its second round of financing: The start-up has now raised three million euros.

It only raised around one million euros in May, and now it's raising more: The online tutoring start-up Cleverly has received three million euros in its seed financing round. Capnamic Ventures is leading the round, which also includes business angels such as Verena Pausder, Daniel Sobhani and the founders of Flixbus. The money will be used to expand the service.

"We see enormous potential in cleverly," says Jörg Binnenbrücker from Capnamic Ventures and explains: "cleverly focuses on live learning instead of ready-made content and offers the opportunity to respond individually to each child. We are convinced that cleverly's approach is the future of tutoring - individual, holistic and digital."

Cleverly's offer includes the provision of specialist knowledge by tutors, but also offers help from mentors. "We work with students to identify and resolve learning problems, build resilience in the face of learning stress, gain new impetus for personal development and question entrenched beliefs," explains founder Fredrik Harkort. The Cleverly service went live this summer; Harkort and Björn Jopen founded the company at the end of last year. Both have founded companies before.

In May, Cleverly co-initiated the initiative of German digital education providers (iddb). It is a virtual round table between politicians and other providers of digital solutions for pupils to discuss the learning backlogs and challenges caused by the coronavirus pandemic and find solutions.
