Discovergy gets new boss and raises 15 million euros

Inexio founder David Zimmer is participating in the start-up's financing round as an investor and will also become Managing Director of the start-up.

The energy technology start-up Discovergy has raised 15 million euros and there have also been personnel changes: Investor and Inexio founder David Zimmer is now Managing Director of the Aachen-based start-up alongside founder Nikolaus Starzacher. The management team is also supported by the new CFO Achim Bolanz, who also previously worked at Inexio.

Dicovergy's financing round already took place in November. The investment includes equity from the Berlin-based company Comgy, which is now a strategic partner of the start-up and is working on joint offers with Discovergy. Zimmer's family office Kalodion and Angelika Lautenschläger Holding, a management and investment company belonging to the MLP financial consultancy family, are also involved. Further money for specific projects comes from the Susi Partners fund. The Swiss have been working with Discovergy for some time.

Founded in 2009 by Ralf Esser and Starzacher, the start-up now employs 150 people and has developed smart electricity meters that provide companies and end customers with an overview of their consumption.

In a strategic partnership with Comgy, the two companies are now offering a multi-metering platform as a white-label solution with which meter and consumption data can be bundled and collected digitally. The start-up promises that this will provide an overview of costs and optimize consumption. The offer includes installation, support and billing, as well as data management and real-time visualization of the data. According to the start-up, Comgy and Discovergy have achieved savings of 30 percent in pilot projects.
