Discovergy gets new boss and raises 15 million euros

Inexio founder David Zimmer participates in the start-up's financing round as an investor and also becomes the start-up's CEO.

The energy technology start-up Discovergy has raised 15 million euros, and there are also personnel changes: Investor and Inexio founder David Zimmer is now managing director of the Aachen-based start-up, alongside founder Nikolaus Starzacher. The management team is also supported by the new CFO Achim Bolanz, who also worked at Inexio in the past.

The financing round of Dicovergy already took place in November. The investment includes equity from Berlin-based Comgy, which is now a strategic partner of the start-up and is working on joint offerings with Discovergy. Zimmer's family office Kalodion and Angelika Lautenschläger Holding, a management and investment company that belongs to the family of financial consultants MLP, are also involved. Further money for concrete projects comes from the Susi Partners fund. The Swiss have been working with Discovergy for some time.

Founded in 2009 by Ralf Esser and Starzacher, the start-up now employs 150 people and has developed intelligent electricity meters designed to give companies and end customers an overview of their consumption.

In the strategic partnership with Comgy, the two now offer a multi-metering platform as a white-label solution with which meter and consumption data can be bundled and digitally collected. The start-up promises that this will provide an overview of costs, but also optimise consumption. The offer includes installation, support and billing, as well as data management and real-time visualization of the data. In pilot projects, Comgy and Discovergy are said to have achieved savings of 30 percent, writes the start-up.
