A hotel by subscription

The Munich-based start-up Myflexhome is working on an intermediary platform that wants to offer hotel subscriptions. The aim is to offer an alternative to traditional second homes or long commutes.
Myflexhome is working on an intermediary platform for hotel subscriptions. With the help of the platform, employees should be able to choose their place of residence independently of their place of work. If they do need to be in the office, they could stay overnight in a hotel and pay a fixed price: The idea is to only pay for the nights that are actually spent in the hotel, whereas a monthly rent would be due for a second home.
The founders are also interested in promoting better use of living space in urban areas. The start-up believes: If many second homes were to become available, this could help to ease the housing market. Myflexhome obviously has no doubts that there will be enough users to achieve such a visible effect. As part of a study, the company found that six out of ten respondents could imagine using a hotel subscription as an alternative to a second home or commuting.
The service could be launched soon: "We are currently in intensive talks with various hotels and plan to launch the service at the beginning of next year," says co-founder Kilian Ricken. The start-up is already attracting attention. Myflexhome emerged as the winner of the "Start?Zuschuss!" start-up competition, in which the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs supports start-ups. The start-up, which was founded in August 2021, will receive a grant of 36,000 euros.
