A hotel by subscription

The Munich-based start-up Myflexhome is working on a mediation platform that wants to offer hotel subscriptions. With this, it wants to offer an alternative to classic second homes or long commutes.

Myflexhome is working on an intermediary platform for hotel subscriptions. With the help of the platform, employees should be able to choose their place of residence independently of their place of work. If they do have to be in the office, they could stay in a hotel and pay a fixed price: Only the nights that are actually spent in the hotel are to be paid, while a monthly rent would be due for a second home.

The founders are also interested in promoting better use of housing in urban areas. The start-up believes: If many second homes became available, this could help to ease the housing market. At Myflexhome, there is apparently no doubt that enough users will be found to achieve such a visible effect. As part of a study, the company determined that six out of ten respondents could imagine using a hotel subscription as an alternative to a second home or commuting.

The offer could start soon: "We are currently in intensive talks with various hotels and plan to launch the offer at the beginning of next year," says co-founder Kilian Ricken. The start-up is already attracting attention. In the start-up competition "Start?Zuschuss!", in the context of which the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs supports start-ups, Myflexhome emerged as the winner. The start-up, founded in August 2021, will receive a grant of 36,000 euros.
