Exakt Health raises $1.5 million

The healthtech wants to use the money to expand in the USA. Maximilian Tayenthal is also investing in the start-up of the ex-N26 managers.

Exakt Health has received 1.5 million US dollars from investors. BackBone Ventures led the pre-seed financing round, and Auxxo also invested in the Berlin-based healthtech. In addition, existing investors Possible Ventures, N26 founder Maximilian Tayenthal and existing investors Cornelia Hoppe and Gloria Bäuerlein also participated.

The start-up of former N26 employees Philipp Billaudelle and Lucia Payo plans to use the fresh capital to have its physiotherapy app certified by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and expand in the USA. The free app offers individual treatment plans and daily exercises for various sports injuries and is already approved as a medical device in Europe. According to the company, the app has gained 8,000 users in the EU and the UK since its market launch last year. "This funding round is the next big step in making sports physiotherapy easily accessible throughout Europe and the USA," says Exakt Health co-founder Billaudelle.

The start-up would also like to use the funds from the financing round to expand its offering. In the coming updates, the app will be expanded to include training plans for the treatment of ankle sprains, gluteal muscle strains and patellar tendinopathy.
