Mia 2.0 is to weigh just 900 kilograms and cost 16,000 euros. A first version of the car failed early on.

The Munich-based e-car start-up Fox E-Mobility has announced a second model. The city runabout called "Mia 2.0" is set to hit the roads from 2023. The model is based on the previous model from 2012. The first Mia failed after just 1,600 vehicles were built.

Fox E-Mobility wants to build small e-cars for the city that are not too expensive and are therefore suitable for young families, tradespeople and beginners. The announced model is expected to cost around 16,000 euros and have a range of 200 kilometers. "With the visionary design of the first Mia ten years ago, we provided a conceptual and creative answer to future mobility requirements," says Murat Günak, designer of the car. "The new design now fulfills this promise in a highly topical way and is a visible signal for consistent sustainability, functionality, agility and appeal."

Production of the electric car is set to begin next year. At 900 kilograms, the car will be comparatively light for an electric car. The start-up can therefore also install smaller and cheaper batteries. The components will be sourced from Europe rather than China in order to avoid customs duties and long transportation routes.

The original manufacturer of the first model, the Franco-German company Mia Electric, went bankrupt in 2014. The shell company was retained and taken over by Fox Automotive (previously Catinum).
