Getir raises $768 million and becomes Decacorn

The Turkish delivery service has been operating in Germany since last year. With the new financing round, Getir aims to become a leader in Europe.

According to information from Gründerszene the Turkish delivery service Getir has completed a Series E financing round amounting to 768 million dollars. The company has thus reached a valuation of over ten billion dollars and has become a decacorn. Mubadala led the financing round. Existing shareholders such as Sequoia Capital and Tiger Global also invested. Mubadala Capital is also invested in its German competitor Flink.

Getir wants to use the capital from the financing round to become the leader in Europe. The delivery service has also been available in Germany since last year and operates in Berlin, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Cologne, Munich and Nuremberg. Like its German competitors Gorillas and Flink, Getir promises to deliver groceries and other supermarket goods within ten minutes.Getir is currently more valuable than Gorillas and Flink. Gorillas raised one billion US dollars in October last year, giving it a valuation of 3.1 billion euros(we reported). However, a new financing round of 700 million euros is being planned. Flink received 560 million US dollars in December last year and is valued at 2.7 billion US dollars(we reported).
