Gropyus apparently receives at least 70 million euros

One of the investors is Christian Angermayer. At the same time, according to media reports, there were internal differences of opinion.

The German-Austrian prefabricated house builder Gropyus has, according to Capital received money amounting to at least 70 million euros. According to company sources and public documents, the prominent investors Christian Angermayer and Rolf Elgeti are said to have joined the company. Angermayer founded the biotech company Ribopharma in 2000 and has been a well-known entrepreneur ever since. Elgeti is known, among other things, for his financial support of F.C. Hansa Rostock since 2015.

In recent weeks, however, internal differences are said to have arisen at the start-up: Co-founder Florian Fritsch is said to have resigned from his position as Chairman of the Supervisory Board in October. With reference to the company environment, Capital states that he was supposed to acquire building land for Gropyus. However, the management is said to have been dissatisfied with his work. Fritsch is said to have sold a plot of land near Koblenz worth millions to Gropyus. However, the company claims that this was not the reason for the dispute. Gisbert Rühl, ex-CEO of Klöckner, is also said to have left the company due to a conflict of interest, according to the media report.

Gropyus is valued at around 350 million euros. The company has ambitious goals: It claims to want to enable the "cities of tomorrow" through timber hybrid buildings and a new standard for smart living. It wants to digitalize the value chain and use renewable raw materials. The production costs are low as a result, but the quality of production is still high.
