Gropyus apparently receives at least 70 million euros

According to the German-Austrian prefabricated house builder Gropyus, it has raised Capital received money amounting to at least 70 million euros. According to company environment and public documents, prominent investors Christian Angermayer and Rolf Elgeti are said to have stepped in. Angermayer had founded the biotech company Ribopharma in 2000 and has been a well-known entrepreneur ever since. Elgeti is known, among other things, for having financially supported F.C. Hansa Rostock since 2015.

In recent weeks, however, internal differences are said to have arisen at the start-up: Co-founder Florian Fritsch is said to have resigned from his position as chairman of the supervisory board in October. Capital states, citing the company environment, that he was supposed to acquire building land for Gropyus. However, management is said to have been dissatisfied with his work. Fritsch is said to have sold a plot of land near Koblenz worth millions to Gropyus. However, the company states that this was not the reason for the dispute. Gisbert Rühl, ex-CEO of Klöckner, is also said to have left due to a conflict of interest, according to the media report.

Gropyus is valued at around 350 million euros. The company has ambitious goals: It says it wants to enable the "cities of tomorrow" through wood-hybrid buildings and a new standard for smart living. It wants to digitize the value chain and use renewable raw materials. It says this will keep production costs low, yet manufacturing quality high.
