Gunzilla Games receives 46 million euros

The gaming start-up intends to use the money to further develop its NFT platform.
Gunzilla Games, a gaming company, has secured around 46 million euros in fresh capital. The company announced this on Tuesday, as start-up scene reported. The main investor was New York-based VC Republic Capital, which focuses on web3, fintech and deeptech. In addition, Griffin Gaming Partners, Animoca Brands and Jump Crypto were among the investors from the gaming and cryptocurrency sector that Gunzilla Games attracted. The co-founder of the streaming service Twitch, Justin Kan, is another well-known angel investor and advisor.
A German-Ukrainian team founded Gunzilla Games in Frankfurt in 2020. According to Gunzilla Games, the additional funds will be used for the development of the in-house NFT platform. The battle royale shooter "Off the Grid", which was presented in May, will be the first game from the games company, which will also serve as inspiration. Co-founder Vlad Korolev explained: "We are now reinventing the system and putting control back into the hands of the players."
In the past, however, players were often extremely annoyed with the engineers for integrating NFT functions. Gunzilla guarantees players that the gameplay of "Off the Grid", which is scheduled for release in 2023, will not be affected by the NFT market. The new function is voluntary.
