gutefrage.net gets new owner

Holtzbrinck sells the website gutefrage.net and the provider highfivve. The Federal Cartel Office is said to already be aware of the takeover.

Since 2006, people have been asking any question they can think of on gutefrage.net. Now the well-known website is about to change hands: The Holtzbrinck publishing group was previously responsible, but now the Nuremberg-based company united vertical media is to take over. The company is thus buying 1.85 million active users who have been asking and answering questions on the website to date.

The Nuremberg-based platform operator united vertical media is officially part of the Müller Medien holding company, which was once founded as a telephone directory publisher but has since built up a veritable platform empire that includes sites such as entscheider.com, meister.de and speisekarte.de. The group now has 2000 employees and is expected to grow further with the takeover.

In addition to gutefrage.net, highfivve, a provider of programmatic marketing also based in Munich, is also to be acquired. Founded by Holtzbrinck in 2019, it claims to be based on the publisher's experience. The takeover is said to have been reported to the German Federal Cartel Office, according to deutsche-startups.
