The Karlsruhe-based start-up is developing e-fuels to make various industries greener. Honda Motor sees this as an opportunity for the future.

Honda Motor is leading the new financing round of the Karlsruhe-based cleantech Ineratec. Existing investors are also involved in the round. How much capital is flowing into the start-up is not being made public. In January 2022, Ineratec raised 20 million euros in its Series A financing round.

The technological cooperation between Japanese car manufacturer Honda and the southern German start-up is now to be strengthened. Together, they want to test and use renewable e-fuels. "Honda has high expectations for the future of Ineratec," says Honda's Senior Managing Executive Officer Shinji Aoyama. "Honda sees synthetic fuels as an important part of a range of technologies that will contribute to carbon neutrality in certain fields such as aviation."

Ineratec's goals sound similar. The cleantech company wants to make the aviation, shipping, automotive and chemical industries less dependent on fossil fuels with e-fuels - and expand production capacities for CO2-neutral fuels and chemicals faster and more strongly to achieve this. The investments are intended to help with this.
