Hy2gen Canada cooperates with SAF+ Consortium

At the beginning of the year, Hy2gen received 200 million euros in investor funding to build plants worldwide that produce fuels from green hydrogen. Some of the capital is now flowing to Canada.
The Canadian branch of the start-up Hy2gen is planning to develop and produce aviation fuels based on green hydrogen in Quebec. Hy2gen Canada would like to work together with the SAF+ Consortium to achieve this. According to the company, a corresponding letter of intent has already been signed.
The start-up, which was founded in 2017, is actually based in Wiesbaden, but also builds and operates its green hydrogen plants in other countries. The subsidiary in Québec, Canada, has been in existence since 2019, and Hy2gen is also active in Germany, France, Norway and the USA. Investors include Trafigura, Hy24, Mirova, CDPQ and Technip Energies.
The Canadian SAF+ Consortium produces synthetic kerosene from CO2 emissions from industry using green hydrogen. The consortium's partners include major companies from the aviation sector such as Airbus, Air Transat, ADM Montreal Airport and Aéro-Montréal.
"Hy2gen is convinced that hydrogen-based renewable fuels are a perfect short-term solution for decarbonizing entire mobility industries such as the aviation sector," says Hy2gen Canada President Cyril Dufau-Sansot. "We welcome the partnership agreement with SAF+ Consortium, which allows us to not only help Québec achieve its 2030 greenhouse gas targets, but also to lead the way."
