Jens Herrndorff invests in Unmilk

The manager of the band Fettes Brot is joining as an angel investor and wants to promote vegan plant-based drinks as a substitute for cow's milk.
The Hamburg start-up Unmilk, which sells vegan protein drinks, only attracted new investors in January. These included the Düsseldorf-based company Katjes Greenfood. Now another supporter has joined them: Entrepreneur and Fettes-Brot manager Jens Herrndorff is now supporting the start-up as an angel investor.
Unmilk sells a mix of oats and pea protein that is intended to be an alternative to cow's milk. So far, Unmilk's protein oat shakes are available in three flavors: chocolate, spicy vanilla and coffee. The company also produces a DIY oat drink powder and oat drinks in pumpkin seed, barista, hemp protein and original varieties.
Herrndorff himself is from Hamburg, so a regional investment was an obvious choice for him. And there is another personal reason for him: "As a vegan, I know how difficult it is to find plant-based drinks that combine taste and healthy nutrition." The future belongs to healthy milk alternatives.
Unmilk founder Jennifer Schäfer wants to reach more customers with her drink: "If we want to make cow's milk an alternative, this also means that plant-based must be at least as readily available as cow's milk," she says. The company is therefore expanding its distribution in the food retail sector. It also wants to be able to develop new products.
