The start-up actually develops coffee capsules made of wood. Now it will be working together with the cosmetics manufacturer on plastic-free packaging for personal care products.

The cosmetics company Kneipp recently announced its new collaboration with the start-up Circleback to introduce a deposit system for cosmetics packaging. Now the company has already chosen the next start-up to pursue its sustainability goals. From now on, Kneipp will be working with the start-up Rezemo, which has developed biodegradable coffee capsules to date. The company aims to switch to plastic-free packaging by the end of 2025.

Julian Reitze and Stefan Zender founded Rezemo in 2014. According to the company, it sells sustainable coffee capsules made from wood fibers and manufactured from by-products such as sawdust. This material will be used at Kneipp for the first time in September. The challenge of the cooperation is to use packaging that was previously used for dry products such as coffee for liquid products. "If we succeed, we will have a real lever that can give an enormous boost to the sustainable development of the entire industry," says founder Reitze.
