Pina Earth receives 2.4 million euros

The Munich-based climate tech start-up Pina Earth wants to achieve climate resilience in European forests. Nordstar is one of the investors.
Pina Earth won the Y Combinator and will now receive 2.4 million euros. The investors include Xange, Nordstar, Climate Capital, Gustaf Alstromer (partner at Y Combinator) and Lea-Sophie Cramer (founder of Amorelie). Pina Earth wants to use the new capital to make European forests climate-resilient. To this end, the start-up enables forest owners to implementCO2 projects through digital data collection, monitoring and certification solutions.
This also convinced the investors: "Xange is proud to continue to invest in climate tech and support the climate resilience of European forests. Pina Earth's technology produces high-quality European CO2 certificates for which demand will continue to grow. This investment is a contribution to protecting the financial and environmental value of our forests," says Nadja Bresous, Partner at Xange.
Dr. Gesa Biermann, Florian Fincke and Jonas Kerber founded the start-up in 2021 to improve the certification of forest carbon offset projects. An online platform to certify the carbon storage of forests is being developed by Pina Earth to bring forest owners together with buyers ofCO2 certificates. The start-up intends to use the new capital for more staff and further product development. Pina Earth also wants to expand its projects in forests throughout the EU.
