Rainer Hundsdörfer becomes Senior Advisor at Markt-Pilot

The Esslingen-based start-up is bringing more expertise in-house with the former CEO of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG.

Rainer Hundsdörfer has worked in management positions at mechanical engineering companies for more than 35 years, most recently as CEO and Chairman of the Management Board at global market leader Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG. He is now moving to the Esslingen-based start-up Markt-Pilot. From October 17, he will be responsible as Senior Advisor in Business Development.

Markt-Pilot was founded in 2020 and offers software designed to create transparency in the areas of market, competition, price and delivery times for all purchased parts from machine manufacturers worldwide. In November 2021, the start-up opened a second office in Chicago. In April, Markt-Pilot raised 6.2 million euros from Capnamic in a seed round. According to the company, it is one of the fastest-growing B2B start-ups in Germany. For Hundsdörfer, this is an argument for joining Markt-Pilot. "Markt-Pilot solves one of the key challenges facing the industry - securing the extremely important spare parts business through market-driven spare parts pricing," he says.

Hundsdörfer also sits on the Economic Council of the CDU as deputy chairman of the Artificial Intelligence Commission. Markt-Pilot's software is also AI-based, which facilitated Hundsdörfer's move. "You can tell that the team itself comes from the industry and I'm looking forward to providing strategic and operational support here in the future," he says.
