Rainer Hundsdörfer becomes Senior Advisor at Markt-Pilot

The Esslingen-based start-up is bringing more expertise in-house with the former CEO of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG.

For more than 35 years, Rainer Hundsdörfer has worked in leading positions at mechanical engineering companies, most recently as CEO and Chairman of the Board at global market leader Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG. Now he is moving to the Esslingen-based start-up Markt-Pilot. There he will be responsible as Senior Advisor in Business Development from October 17.

Founded in 2020, Markt-Pilot offers software designed to create transparency in the areas of market, competition, price and delivery times for all purchased parts from machine manufacturers worldwide. In November 2021, the startup opened a second office in Chicago. In April, Market Pilot raised €6.2 million from Capnamic in a seed round. It says it is one of the fastest-growing B2B startups in Germany. For Hundsdörfer, that's an argument to join Markt-Pilot. "Markt-Pilot solves one of the key challenges facing the industry - securing the extremely important spare parts business through market-based spare parts pricing," he says.

Hundsdörfer also sits on the CDU's Economic Council as vice chairman of the Artificial Intelligence Expert Commission. Markt-Pilot's software is also AI-based, which helped Hundsdörfer's move. "You can tell that the team itself comes from the industry, and I'm looking forward to providing strategic and operational support here in the future," he says.
