Topi raises $45 million

The start-up rents out electronic devices to companies. This is now convincing investors.
The Berlin-based fintech Topi has raised 45 million US dollars in a Series A financing round. The round was led by existing investors Creandum and Index Ventures. Triplepoint Capital from Silicon Valley is also participating. In addition to the current financing round, the start-up is also announcing its new partnership with electronics retailer Gravis. In future, Topi customers will be able to rent their IT equipment from Gravis.
"We are making the as-a-service models that have long been established for software standard for hardware too," say founders Estelle Merle and Charlotte Pallua. Founded in 2021, the start-up rents out electrical appliances to companies on a subscription model. The hardware-as-a-service concept could save companies time in managing devices and avoid outdated hardware. The concept would also drive the transition to a circular economy. "We are firmly convinced that every retailer and manufacturer will have to offer their products as a subscription model in the future in order to remain competitive," say the founders.
