Voltfang receives seven-figure sum

The start-up from Aachen produces electricity storage units from used electric car batteries. The funding should now enable series production.
Voltfang has completed a seven-figure financing round. Ferry and Fabian Heilemann have invested in the start-up via their family office Pirate Impact. A number of business angels also invested, including GridX founders Andreas Booke and David Balensiefen, former Managing Director of the Energy Management Division at Siemens Ralf Christian and Gabor Cselle, Director of the Google start-up incubator Area 120.
The start-up was founded by former RWTH students Afshin Doostdar, Roman Alberti and David Oudsandji in June last year and produces electricity storage units from used electric car batteries. As the batteries are used a second time, the production of new batteries is avoided and resources such as lithium and cobalt are saved.
Voltfang intends to use the capital raised to further expand its production facility, carry out additional pilot projects and start series production. Around 50 storage units should be ready by the end of the year.
