Ten million euros and three new additions to the management team for Xayn

The Berlin-based search engine start-up is all about expansion: in addition to a financing round of ten million euros, Xayn has announced its plans to enter the Asian region. The company is supported by three new hires in the management team.
In a current Series A financing round, the Berlin start-up Xayn raises ten million euros and announces three new additions to its management team. The financing round is led by Japanese investors Global Brain and KDDI, with existing investors Earlybird and Iota founder Dominik Schiener also participating. Xayn intends to use the money to further develop its app and expand into the Asian region with a focus on Japan.
Founded in 2017, the start-up has developed an app that includes a privacy-friendly AI search engine, with the algorithm using federated learning to train the AI directly on users' end devices. "In an industry where the sale of data and advertising en masse are the norm, we deliberately focus on data protection and user satisfaction," says co-founder and CEO Leif-Nissen Lundbæk, explaining the special feature of Xayn.
Three new additions will also be working on further development in the future: Former Deutsche Bank manager Daniel von Heyl has been part of the team as CFO since the beginning of August. Michael Briggs is the CGO with immediate effect and will continue to drive forward Xayn's growth strategy in his position. Frank Pepermans will be responsible for product development in future. The programmer has primarily worked on open source frameworks.
"With the completed financing round, it is now the ideal time to strengthen the management team and further promote the company's growth," says co-founder Felix Hahmann on the start-up's good news.
