Smafo introduces third e-bike

The start-up offers the Smafo 3 both for purchase and as a subscription. The e-bike is available from 1,899 euros.

The Paderborn-based start-up Smafo presents its third e-bike. The price for the Smafo 3 is at least 1,899 euros. The bike can still be individually configured. The battery allows for a battery-powered ride of around 150 kilometers. In addition to the purchase, interested parties can rent the e-bike on a subscription basis from 69 euros per month. This includes the "all-round carefree package" including the new Smafo Connect app. The functions can be tested free of charge for a quarter. Among other things, bike owners can use the app to determine the bike's location via GPS, manage a digital lock and view various statistics. The bike is also fully secured. You can test ride the Smafo 3 in Paderborn. The start-up states the delivery time for the e-bike on its website as nine to ten weeks.

"We want to launch a rescue assistant this summer," announced Managing Director Sven Schneider in a recent Startbase interview. "If a sensor in the e-bike module registers an accident, the app will send three push messages to the rider via our app. If he fails to respond to all three, we send an ambulance." Schneider and André Thiele founded Smafo in 2018. Together, they want to offer a "people's e-bike" with their start-up.
