Hopper Mobility completes pre-seed round

The start-up wants to bring an e-bike-car hybrid to the market. With the capital raised, the Augsburg-based company now wants to build a prototype.

The mobility start-up Hopper Mobility has closed its pre-seed financing round. The Augsburg-based company initially did not disclose anything about the amount of the investment or the capital providers.

The concept of the company, founded in 2019, is ambitious: The Swabians are working on a hybrid of e-bike and car called Hopper. According to the start-up, the vehicle should be usable without a driver's license. In addition, the Hopper requires only about one seventh of the electricity that an e-car consumes. Mobility Hopper estimates a range of 60 kilometers for the electric motor.

"We anticipate a significant growth in demand for environmentally friendly and practical concepts for individual mobility in the city. Although there is only one test model so far, we already have inquiries for more than 200 vehicles," says Martin Halama, co-founder and project manager of Hopper Mobility GmbH.

With the money from the financing round, the start-up now wants to develop a prototype and carry out the first test drives. The first pre-series vehicles are to be delivered at the end of 2022. Hopper Mobility is planning another round of financing for 2023, which will then be used to start series production.
