61 million euros for Dataguard

The data protection start-up was able to convince the investment bank Morgan Stanley, among others. Several prominent German business angels are also on board.
The SaaS start-up Dataguard has successfully completed its Series B financing round. As the Munich-based company announced, it raised a total of 61 million euros from investors. Morgan Stanley Expansion Capital, an investment vehicle of the US financial services provider, led the round, with existing investor One Peak also providing money. Business angels Bastian Nominacher (founder of Celonis), Hanno Renner (founder of Personio) and Carsten Thoma (founder of Hybris) are also participating.
Thomas Regier and Kivanc Semen founded Data Guard in 2017. The start-up offers companies a platform that they can use to manage their data protection, IT security and compliance. Dataguard first identifies shortcomings in these areas, then provides recommendations for action and offers the opportunity to track progress in these areas. "Thanks to the current financing round, we can further optimize the DataGuard platform in this respect and also integrate selected offers from partners into it," says Dataguard founder Semen.
The start-up intends to use the capital it has now raised to expand its product portfolio and strengthen its market position in both Europe and the USA. Dataguard has thus raised a total of 80 million euros in venture capital since its foundation.
