The data protection start-up was able to convince the investment bank Morgan Stanley, among others. Several prominent German business angels are also on board.

SaaS start-up Dataguard has successfully completed its Series B financing round. The Munich-based company announced that it raised a total of 61 million euros from investors. Morgan Stanley Expansion Capital, an investment vehicle of the U.S. financial services firm, leads the round, with existing investor One Peak also providing money. In addition, business angels Bastian Nominacher (founder of Celonis), Hanno Renner (founder of Personio) and Carsten Thoma (founder of Hybris) are participating.

Thomas Regier and Kivanc Semen founded Data Guard in 2017. The start-up offers companies a platform through which they can manage their data protection, IT security and compliance. In doing so, Dataguard first identifies failures in these fields, then recommends courses of action and offers the option of further tracking progress in these areas. "Thanks to the current round of financing, we can further optimize the DataGuard platform in this regard and also integrate selected partner offerings there," says Dataguard founder Semen.

With the capital it has now raised, the start-up intends to expand its product portfolio and strengthen its market position in both Europe and the USA. In total, Dataguard has thus received 80 million euros in venture capital since its founding.
