"Gravity Challenge" takes place in Germany for the first time

Deloitte is looking for new ideas for aerospace technology. Teams that qualify will receive exclusive access to data from space technology.
The "Gravity Challenge" is taking place in Germany for the first time. Deloitte is organizing the event together with twelve partners, including Nasa Harvest, Lufthansa Technik and the city of Aachen. Teams from science, business and the start-up scene in Germany, France, Luxembourg, the UK, the USA, Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Australia and Japan can apply.
The incentive for the teams is exclusive access to data from space technology. 20 experts will accompany the selection of solutions and moderate between the teams. There will be 16 tasks, with five teams selected for each. From September 2021, one team will go into implementation with the respective company. Deloitte organized the first Gravity Challenge in Australia in 2019.
"Open networks and diverse mindsets are a fundamental prerequisite for innovative solutions," says Egbert Wege, Consulting Partner at Deloitte. "With the Gravity Challenge, we are now bringing a globally networked innovation platform to Germany, with which we have successfully promoted new approaches in other countries."
The other partners also have goals. Nasa Harvest is looking for technology-based solutions to correctly identify agricultural areas with the associated crops on satellite images. Lufthansa Technik wants to improve internet connectivity in passenger aircraft and the city of Aachen wants to optimize inner-city traffic flow in order to reduce emissions.
