Mympact launches in Germany and Austria

Users are to use the app to improve their personal environmental balance sheet. To do this, the app links up with the bank account.

Since January 2023, the "mympact" app from the Zurich and Berlin-based start-up of the same name has been available in the app and Ios stores. Through a link with the bank account, the app provides information about the individual CO2 footprint. In doing so, the program analyzes personal spending. Users then receive suggestions for more sustainable consumption alternatives through the app.

Mympact was founded in 2021 by alumni of the University of St.Gallen and aims to combine real-time CO2 tracking, open banking and a community approach. The app features over 200 sustainable brands and companies from all walks of life that can be displayed as alternatives. For these brands - for example Everdrop, Toogoodtogo or Avocadostore - the app results in a new sales channel to reach a climate-conscious target group. Users can network and should be motivated by playful elements to reduce their own footprint.

In a first round of funding, mympact raised €500,000 from business angels and global fintech incubator F10. "The approach of other providers to simply offset the carbon footprint created by consumption for a monthly fee doesn't go far enough," says CEO and founder Christian Sutter. "It is more important that we, as individuals, contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gases ourselves."
